Bill Layo received his BS in Industrial Engineering from
Penn State University in 1972 and his MS in Welding
Engineering from Ohio State University in 1975.
With over 25 years experience in the metal fabrication
industries, Bill has worked for WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC,
IONICS INC., SANDVIK STEEL, FOSTER WHEELER
ENERGY CORP., and now MIDALLOY INC.
At FOSTER WHEELER Bill worked as Welding Engineer
Manager, Procurement Manager, Technical Manager, and as Manager of Welding Operations for theDansville, NY facility. He spent 14 years at
SANDVIK STEEL in the Tubular Products Division and was the Chief Weding Engineer for the Welding and Wire Division. Bill is familiar with the welding and material selection for the following industries: power generation, fertilizer and urea, tool and die rebuilding, pulp and paper, chemical processing, petrochemical and refining. He has a special area of expertise in super austenetic and super duplex stainless steels. His experience also includes welding, machining, bending and forming of inconel, monel, copper nickel, HY-80, HY-100, Grade 91, low alloy steels, and all series of stainless steels and carbon steels.
Bill is very resourceful in obtaining "hard to find" information on welding and manufacturing of unfamiliar grades of materials. Bill joined MIDALLOY as the Chief Welding Engineer and Northeastern Sales Manager in April of 2001. He can provide suggested welding procedures for any application as well as suggest the best material for those special opportunities.
